2026/2027 version of the London hockey regulations as published in: London Hockey Home
26/27 Key updates include:
• Captains must receive a yellow card if too many players on the pitch materially impact the game (optional green if no impact)
• Ariels (Rule 9.10): opponents may approach once the receiver touches the ball, provided the initial 5m of safe space was respected
• Throwing protective equipment (e.g. face mask) that accidentally strikes someone above the knee = yellow card
• If the ball hits an umpire or unauthorised person, play continues unless it creates an advantage in which case restart with a bully. If this occurs during a PC another PC or PS is awarded.
England Hockey Hub are running a webinar 8th September 7:30pm-9pm online to run through these rules. This is available for free but you need to sign up as there are limited places: England Hockey's Online Training Hub
