Following some strong performances in recent games, the Cheetahs entered the game full of confidence, but were pushed hard by a good Purley outfit. With both teams playing without Goalkeepers, the score line was amplified but remained a fair reflection of possession and goal threat. On a typically windy Sunday afternoon at Nonsuch, Purley took a merited early lead as Cheam failed to impose themselves on the opposition. A response from the prolific Charlotte Windett was immediately followed by another Purley strike. At 2-1 down approaching half-time, it looked like being a long afternoon for the faithful spectators. The game then switched as Cheam built momentum, with 3 quick strikes in the remaining 5 minutes of the half from Annie Pearson and 2 more from Charlotte.

At 4-2, the game looked more comfortable but a lapse in concentration allowed Purley to score twice in a minute after half-time to make it 4-4. Cheam then reasserted control and scored 4 more goals from Marie Beall, Annie, Laura Sallabank and a final one from Maryam Dar on her welcome return to the team. Purley responded late on to make the final score 8-5 - but by this time Cheam were well in control.

This has been a tremendously encouraging season, with every player making a strong contribution and like everyone, the girls enjoy winning but need to stay focused on skills, tactics and energy levels.
