The last match of 2015 saw Cheam's high scoring U16 girls come uo against a deceptively strong Epsom side at Nonsuch. Playing without a keeper, the Cheetah's started slowly and absorbed a lot of pressure in the opening 10 mins. Cheam's initial forays forward were mostly thwarted by Epsom's centre mid, tackling low and strong, therefore the girls had to adapt and start to use the wings more. After 20 mins, Cheam got the breakthrough with a goal from the ever reliable and prolific Charlotte Windett, placing her shot wide of the advancing keeper.

Charlotte then had a couple of good chances to extend the lead, however it was Epsom who equalised on 25 mins, following a a short corner and shot that many thought was too high...except for Umpire Stacy "that's only my bearded drgaon" Main who claimed it was "on the way down " as it passed the goal line.....the decision was referred to the 3rd Umpire for Video Review, however there wasn't one, so the goal stood....

The second half followed the pattern of the first half, with an evenly contested match which could have gone both ways. This brought out the best in Cheam, with some strong performances from Esme Jones and Kate, Pearl and Eloise from our U14 squad. The winning goal came from a fantastic break by Annie Pearson and Laura Sallabank, who found the unmarked Charlotte W to score and seal the victory.

So a highly successful start first half of Cheam's season with 5 wins and 1 loss means that we can look forward to the remaining matches, starting with the reverse fixture against Wimbledon, who inflicted our only defeat so far.
