It’s the perfect chance to reconnect with fellow Cheammates and battle it out for early-season trophies named in memory of some much loved former members.

He was a president who truly put the club and the people at the heart of everything he did. His support was unwavering, and you could always count on seeing him every Saturday, proudly on the touchline, watching, encouraging and supporting the team sitting in the dugout with his Cheam scarf on.

He was more than just a president; he was a familiar and reassuring presence, always there to share the highs, give support through the lows, and show just how much the club meant to him.

Catriona Grant Cup
11:30 Ladies 2s vs Ladies 3s

Catriona Grant was a truly remarkable woman who always put people at the heart of her passion for hockey and was truly inspirational. Her coaching journey began with the juniors at Cheam before progressing to coach the Women’s third Team. From the sideline, her dogged determination was unmistakable. Through every challenge, she supported, encouraged and believed in those around her, always standing firmly on their side of the pitch and willing them to succeed.

Her legacy lives on in the many people she inspired, supported and helped to become the best they could be.

Rodney Gilbert Shield
13:00 Mens 3s vs Mens 4s

Rodney was a true club stalwart who brought skill, laughter and a legendary aerial to the pitch. He devoted his Saturday mornings to coaching the juniors and his afternoons to playing, while continuing to encourage and develop younger players within the senior squads. Saturday evenings were often spent enjoying a Chicken Rezella at the Star of India—and, of course, ensuring that the juniors were properly introduced to this club tradition too.

An exceptional defender, Rodney combined immense talent with an absolute determination not to let anyone past him. If they did get past, it was generally over his shoulder. His trademark aerial involved swapping his hands on the stick before launching the ball up the pitch, long before aerials became commonplace in the game.

A wonderful teammate who brought laughter both on and off the pitch, Rodney made a lasting contribution to the club and will always be fondly remembered at Cheam.
