Dom deals the pain

Cheam 1s produced a fantastic 2nd half display to clinch a 3-2 win against a very well drilled wanderers side.
Following a disappointing draw last week, Cheam started brightly and dominated the first 5 minutes, setting up camp in the opposition's half. Despite this early pressure, Cheam, couldn’t find the breakthrough and Wanderers started to get a foothold in the game, shifting the ball around quickly. Wanderers began to control the game and after a slight mix up, the ball went loose in the Cheam D and was clinically dispatched. 1-0 wanderers.

Cheam struggled to get out of second gear and couldn't keep hold of the ball. Some lazy marking at the back post allowed a wanderers forward to sneak in for a simple finish (sorry, that was my bad). 2-0 Wanderers.
It was a very poor 1st half performance from Cheam and they were happy to hear the half time whistle.

The second half brought a change in formation and a change of heart. Cheam looked like a completely different team, passing the ball around with intensity and purpose. The front line made strong leads, making some much needed space for the midfield. Shags, Higgo and Tanners could finally get on the ball and started to link defence and attack very nicely. A swift passing move caught wanderers out cold and Dom found himself in on goal, before calmly squaring it around the keeper to Will Goult, who never looked like missing. 2-1 and Cheam were back in it.

Cheam could have been on level terms a few minutes later, but left with an open goal, Tanners froze, forgot what sport he was playing and kicked the ball wide instead- not his finest moment.

Fortunately, his blushes were spared moments later. Olly chucked an aerial into the path of the ever-dangerous Dom. After riding a few challenges and a bit of luck, the ball popped up and around the keeper, leaving Dom standing in front of an open goal. He finished expertly with a reverse sweep; a goal so beautiful that no one other than Dom and Olly could remember it afterward. Surely an early contender for goal of the season? 2-2 and game on.

Cheam were now firmly in the driving seat, looking dangerous each time they went forward. Another slick move ended with Tanners bursting into the D and planting the ball on a defenders foot. From the resultant short, Shags dragged low, Dom got the deflection and Higgo finished at the back post - a perfectly executed set piece to complete the comeback.

Cheam looked to sit and defend their lead, but always looked dangerous on the counter. Dom could have put the game to bed after Higgo set him through with a lofted pass, but after shifting it round the keeper, he saw his name in lights, swung, missed and ended up on the floor. There were a few nervy moments towards the end, but Cheam held out for the final whistle.
