In what was the first game back after the Christmas break, Oxted came out on top in an entertaining end to end game.
There were question marks over the pitch in the morning as we all woke up to a very frosty start, however thanks to some sweeping in one corner, we began after a 15 minute delay.
Cheam started strong, dominating the first 10 minutes, scoring one goal but should have had three or four. Then the tide turned and Oxted took control of the rest of the first half, scoring three goals and getting the best out of Stumps in goal.
The second half started in similar fashion to the first with a number of attempts on the Oxted goal pulling out more brilliant saves from their keeper, however Oxted were always dangerous especially on the counter attack, and with 10 minutes to go they capitalised to put the game beyond doubt.
Standout performances from Will Gault on the right wing, Ben Gibson in defence and Stumps in goal. Cards for Smeagol (20 seconds of consistent stick tackling) and Willy (waving his arms at the umpire...). DOD went to Higgo for a mad minute where everything went wrong.
