Well this was the big one.
With Joe Oddy on the pitch scraping off the snow from 9am onwards, it didn't look as though this game would go ahead. However, by 10am we were ready to go, even if the opposition were not so sure.
After a tense start, we took the lead, but were rocked by two goals in as many minutes. A goal down and we were in unfamiliar territory. Top-scoring OGs were a strong side and pressed well from the front. However, we got back on level terms shortly before half-time.
At the break, we were confident that OGs had thrown all they had at us, and in the second half Marcus put us ahead by deflecting in a short-corner. The expected onslaught for an equalizer never came and the Cheam heroes walked away with all three points and top spot.
Special mentions:
Molly - Thanks for umpiring. A Molly umpiring performance comes complete with extensive lectures and pearls of wisdom. I think we all left the pitch wiser, better human beings for it...
Joe Oddy - Cheam's own Mr Plow. Hero of the day, even if during the match itself he had a shitter.
