Press Release 06.08.2018

The prospects of Cheam Hockey Club Men’s 1st XI for the new season after looking bright with an exciting new signing. After being developed internally through Cheam HC Juniors, Harry Reynolds, has furthered his coaching and playing career via EVO Academy and Southampton University.

The 21yo from Worcester Park becomes Cheam HC’s youngest senior coach in decades with eyes on a swift return to Surrey 1 League.

“While I enjoyed playing in a higher division on the South Coast, I’m delighted to have been asked to lead the club I grew up with. We have great young talent coming through and I look forward to challenging the squad to vie for promotion,” said Reynolds.

Club Chair Scott Ferguson is enthusiastic for the season ahead. “Harry is an excellent young coach who is highly rated by those he has worked with, including international representatives and Olympic gold medallists. It’s a wonderful story to bring him back to the club and the news has already given a sharp burst of energy to the entire men’s section just ahead of the Club’s Centenary in 2020.”

Pre-season training commences in early August. For more details about playing hockey at Cheam, a club established in 1920 running men's, ladies' and U8-U16 junior teams, please visit www.cheamhockeyclub.co.uk.
