Cheam L3s 1 - 2 Horley

We had an early start a long, long, long way from home. After some 'wheeling and dealing' between captains and trying out some of the newer players in a 'real' match, Cheam had 3 subs, a real record for the lower teams.

We started the game strong and Laura, with the help of the rest of the team, managed to find the back of the net early in the game. We had a few good runs up the field, a couple of near misses, but sadly no more goals. Emma Laws did an amazing job of running the full length of the field every few seconds, to help the defense. Emma, you were amazing, those legs seemed to have an endless supply of energy.

After half time the opposition came out hungry and aggressive. They nearly snuck a goal into the box but some great saves from Doak and a fair bit of luck, we held them back. Cheam were kept off balance by the oppo's umpire constantly signalling one thing and yelling another. There were chunks of time where everyone was looking at the ball and no-one knew who was actually supposed to be taking the hit.

Unfortunately for us in the last 10 minutes of the game, the opposition managed to find their unmarked ladies and scored 2 goals. We were robbed in the final few minutes. Hopefully going forward there won't be an unmarked lady to find.

Duck of the Day goes to Julia for injuring herself in the pre match warm up. I hope your ankle recovers we really need you 'fighting fit' for Saturday.
