After a damp and soggy start to the day ladies 2s met with Doak and Maloney drenched after umpiring the men's 3s where our ladies 2s umpire had injured himself So badly we were without an umpire. Cue super keeper Charlie who swept in to save the day and umpire.
The game started with a minute silence with Cheam ladies wearing their poppies in respect. The game began after that with Cheam storming the oppo and creating many chances for goals. Sadly it just wasn't Cheam's day to score. One notable moment came when a 2 on 1 with the keeper with meg and Imy resulted in a missed opportunity on the post (where was the dive Imy!?) Despite many chances we could compose ourselves in the D long enough to get that golden goal. Katie Narger accompanied by her sister Emma worked wonders in the middle of the pitch. And meg and Viv worked tirelessly in mid field, who knows how they don't stop but still look fresh faced and ready for more at half time!
Half time came and OKs Half time chat seems to work as they came it hard. However Cheam also took note of all the positives that were happening on pith as took a moment to revisit coach Shaun's wise words from the previous game.
The second half started and OKs came out much stronger this half. Which caused Doak to take some great saves that kept us in the game. Sadly her efforts were not enough as a rebound from a diving stick save meant OKs attack popped one over her stick to secure their first goal. And the only goal of the game. The defence kept fighting and with Toni going off injured due to her awesome efforts and Maloney with a beautiful bruise on her finger thanks to her commitment in defending the D it was obvious Cheam's defence has becoming a force to be reckoned with. It was a disappointing loss for Cheam as a goal was deserved. A very enjoyable match and a good even opposition meant we walked away with smiles on our faces. MOM went to Doak for her awesome efforts keeping the score down to 1-0 and DOD goes to Steph for her making falling over look like an Olympic sport.
