Cheam Ladies 4th XI

Report: Fantastic fabulous Fours,well we played well, there is not much more I can say.
Everyone is abit gutted with the score, their umpire was slightly blind and bank liked to just barge people out of the way.It appears to be the story of the fours season that we play well but just dont win!

I scored the first goal, to be honest abit of a wimpy hit that went through the goalies legs, but it hit the back board so alls good. Cheam had plenty of chances, but Bank seemed to utalise theres. The second goal came from Charlie in the secodn half finishing off a cross from Anna T. We kept fighting rght to the end, and we were definately all hungry for the win.

In all honesty it was a great game to end the season on, i think everyone played really well, we just didnt win it.

Report: Fantstic Fabulous Fours FINALLY got the win we deserve!! It was a great game played by all, thanks to loads of effort and a few subs, many thanks to Kim and Bendy for stepping in!

Well the oppo managed to get a goal in first at somepoitn in the first half,I dont remeber it really so it cant have been that fantastic but that was irrelevent as Chezza scored a goal to equalise, a great lifted hit that swished past the keeper. Then Cheam scord again before the end of the half with Amy L hitting in a great ball from a deflection off the goalies pads.

We started the second half in good spirits and eager to keep up our victory. This was demonstrated by the short corner that was awarded within the first 30 seconds that was finsiehd off fantastically by Lara with a hit from Top D. CHeam continued to dominate with Chezza soring another goal with that lifted hit,turning into a bit of a signiture shot! The oppo had a last ditch attempt all pushing up to try to get a goal back but Cheam held strong and defended the scoreline.

Great Game!! Lets finish off the season with a win next week!!

Report: Fantastic fabulous fours played a great game again and a really enjoyable one, despite being down to 11.

Well we came out fighting this week and gave the oppo a good run for their money. Unfortunately they managed to get 2 goals pat us initially but cheam came fighting back with Lara scoring 2 goals. The first was a effortless looking strike from the top D, the second came from a short corner ,again a great strike. However the oppo got another two goals past us by the time it got to half time.

The second half we kept up our effort and our work and managed to score another two goals. The 3rd was from a short corner, Lara shot the ball in and as it deflected off the defenders stick it flew over the goalkeepers head and in! The 4th was a hit down the middle of the pitch into the D by Amy T, Chezza wasn't quite quick enough but Charlie got on the end of it to score. The oppo managed to score another 2 times aswell tho, but they had a hard job of doing it, Ads in defense posed a double threat, one for chopping there legs of as they run in, the other for saving goals off the line!

Everybody played a great game and we just need to keep this standard up for the next two weeks.

Report: Fantastic Fabulous Fours kept battaling with this game and we did in my opinion play very well! I was atleast that knackered we must have played well.

The first half we held our own and only finished with a score of 1-0. We had a few chances in the D but nothing spectacular. The whole team was putting in 100%tho.

The Second half we kept up our pace but we just overwhelmed by a young fit opposition who, altough beatable, had the edge in a fitness sense. We kept up defense and Kate played a storming game in goal but there persistant unusually called short corners took their tole on the whole team. Elbows were out slightly towards the end of the match, Charlie beign particularly beaten up by the end.

It was an enjoyable game and good work but next week needs a few more goals to lift us out of relegation.

Report: Well belive it or not this was a very enjoyable match which isn't quite reflected in the score line. The fantastic fabulous fours, which we still are, did have some moments of hockey genius! There were some moments that were less genius, but i think it was majoritively the fact our oppo are currently top of the league and the fact we had no sub or objective coach on the sidelines which was our downfall.

The first half was relatively uneventful, the oppo had about a bazillion short corners, and appart from Annabell having a go at midfield AND forward before deciding that defense her usual haunt was actually better for her. It probs ended about 8-0 but noone was really counting. We kept our positive mental attitude.

However the second half was full of charm and suprises, the oppo managed to score the other 6 or so goals but that really isnt important. Lara managed to get our first goal in from a short corner with a brilliant strike from top D. The second goal was even more spectacular as Lara belted the ball to Chezza from somewhere near the top of our D to the top of the oppo's D.They even had a quick wave at each other first. Chezza finished of the goal with a one on one with the keeper. Similarly other high points included Alice's great run up into the D, unfamiliar terratory for our new midfielder having been promoted up from defence, unsure of what to do what she go there just ran at the keeper and got taken out! Sejal had a brilliant game coming in for tackles and even saving a ball of the line. Annabell decided to do a dive just completely of her own accord while lara continued to scare the living daylights out of the oppo with her hits.

Basically we played a great match which i think everybody enjoyed, We could have beaten them but odds were greatly stacked against us. Next week tho guys we really do NEED a win!

Report: Well, I think I can speak for the whole team that after our previous encounter with Surbiton, this wasn't the score line we were expecting. However after having cooled down a bit to write the report, I will just say that there is a suspicion some of the oppo may not have been playing for the correct team in correlation to there skill.

Right , I definately feel that we didn't give up, and the fabulous fours didnt play a game that represented the score line. Our goal from Charlie was a text book case of fab positioning and Lara's was (atlast) a great strike. We kept up the work rate and there were good elements to our play. Kate our borrowed goalkeeper for the match carried on playing despite injuring herself AND still made some fantastic saves. Dive of the game came from Alice who threw herself onto the ground and managed to hit the ball out of the D. Also , well done to Kate on her first game with the fours.

Basically we want to make sure that we get the goals in next week, which was slightly lacking this week. However I feel the whole team should be commended for not attacking members of the oppo out of frustration. Lets smash it on saturday , PLEASE?!

Report: Fantastic fabulous fours started the year with a fab start. We started the match quickly dominating and pushign up to the oppo's D. Charlie scored our first goal with fab positioning finishing off a cross.The first half continued and we kept up good pace, however Cranleigh managed to get a goal in, though only after several attempts, some very good saves by Emma and a appauling rugby-esc tackle by Alice.

The first half ended 1-1 and we gathered to regroup and tell each other about the familiar mistakes of not playing hockey for over a month.We came out tho refreshed and eager to gain back a lead,luckily Chezza, who decided to run her socks of this match, got our second goal despite staying in defence. Unfortunately Cranleigh managed to score another goal and then another one leaving us 3-2 down. This however just lead to some extra drive and aggression on Cheams part!There was an unfortunate scrap behind the keeper that should have ended in a cheam goal- the should have just pushed the player out the way. However creative fouling was our gift for this match both Amy L and Liz putting in good performances,although the calls did baffle us, we were sure to clarify the rules at the end.However its not over until its over and we finished the game of in style with a short corner in the last minute that was finished off by Lara with a fantastic straight strike from the top of t! he D.I think considering Emma's growing skill she might be hanging up the keepers kit.

Everybody had a great game, and we deserved a win. High hopes for next week!

Report: Fantastic Fabulous Fours played an awesome game coming out strong from the off. We all put in 100% and which paid off with a short corner leading to a set up by Amy L and a great goal by Alex. We kept the score at 1-0 untill half time and there was a general concensus of us playing really well.

After half time refreshed by a large supply of oranges we continued to keep up the pace and put pressure on the opposition. Annabell made some fab runs up the wing from defense driving the game forward.Unfortunately theoppo managed to get a goal in , however we kept our heads up. The seconds goal came from a great cros from Amy L finished off by Alex. Cheam contuied to play well and the game ended on a dramatic short corner which the cheam defense took care of to secure our win.

Great play girls! Now we just have to keep this up!

Report: The last few weeks the 4s have been slow to start, but not this week! Switched on and ready to start after the warm up we scored from a short in the first few minutes - Liz's strike from the top of the D going straight through the goalies legs.

Our passing and possession were much better than in recent weeks. With some good runs up the line by Charlie, Amy and Annobel and some blistering crosses into the D by Annobel and Chezza. Alex (?) got a stick to one of them and another classy goal from Cheam. Liz and Cathy battling well in the mid-field to keep the ball in our end.

The oppo lifted their game at half time and scored a quick goal...which caught our defenders by surprise as they were expecting the umpire to call a short. For the next few minutes the opposition attacked and we fought them on the line, resulting in 1 more goal for the oppo. We recovered and made more opportunities, including more shorts, Alex missing the goal by a balls width.

Spuggy will be glad to know that her 'on the foot' training was put to good use both in the defense and the attack.

Unfortunately we never managed to get the elusive 3rd goal, but the next win is definitely within reach if we play like that next week.

Report: Fantastic Fabulous Fours battles against gale force winds as well as the oppo this saturday. Luckily the rain subsided for our match but the weather was still truely rotten. Unfortunatly the oppo's supperior passing skills got the better of us. We battled to the get the ball defending many short corners, special mention to Emma our Kepper in her first Cheam Match who did a fab job,but unfortunatly they managed to score 4 goals including a deflection by Annabell from the egde of the D into the top right hand corner of the goal!

The second half we improved our passing and kept up moral. They managed to get one more goal past us but the general play was a lot better. The was some great work and we continue to play well despite scorlines.

Report: Well the fantastic fabulous fours faltered slightly coming up against a team who was just that little bit faster.The first few minutes of the first half resulted in a quick goal by the oppo while we woke up but by about ten minutes in we started to get back on form. Unfortunatly they managed to school another 3 past us. However Anna T managed to finish a shot and grab us a goal. First half ended 4-1.

We came out strong in the second half and kept our heads up. Again the oppo managed to get the better of us with 2 goals but we had a fair share of shots but luck wasn't on our side today. It was an unfortunate score line because if we had had a few better passes , shots and tackles it could have been our game. Yet there was some good play and brilliant runs, let keep up the good standard of play.

Report: Fantastic Fabulous Fours had a Phenominal game! We made a quick start with Amy T scoring with a deflection hit from Alex at top D and we just kept on going. The next goal came from Amelia followed by another 2 by Alex. We dominated the first half ,leaving chezza as keeper rather bored ,ending it 4-0 up with brilliant play from the whole team.

The second half brought a swift change of goal keeper as Amy T stepped in and Chezza was allowed out. So over joyed to be out of the kit she went on to score 2 goals in the second half. Similarly we dominated the game Alex gaining a further 3 goals , Amelia getting another one and Charlie started her seasons goal count. Unfortunatly their two breaks into the D lead to some short corners and the 2 goals much to reluctant goallies' frustration. However we had a blinding game and made up a lot of goal difference. How about a repeat next week girls?

Report: The fabulous fours came out strong to this game and after finding our feet started off well. Cheam scored the first goal from a short corner ,Anna T gave a pass back to Chezza who belted in a fantastic lifted hit. Forget one goal a season, we expect atleast one a match now! Unfortunately Bank of England got a goal back before the end of the first half.

The second half was going well and we had a few chances and defended a few goals, altogether a fab effort by cheam. Then shock horror, skipper Ads broke a nail! She was rushed to the side of the pitch to stem the blood flow and have a considerable bandage attached. Afterwards while the reorganising defense we still regrouping Bank of England managed to get there second goal. We came back hard to try and get a goal but the whistle blew before we managed it.

It was a great effort by everyone and a good game.

Report: Fantastic Fabulous Fours stormed into our first league match with a phenominal game. We insighted fear in our opponants despite only having 10 players however this only made us work harder and the whole team ran their socks off. Unfortunately they managed to get a sneaky goal past chezza,our reluctant goally, who dove to block the first shot but they slipped in the second. Not to fear because we came back with a short corner and goal scored by Anna T ,with excellent positioning,on her debut match with the Ladies 4's.

The second half we kept up the good work and even though the oppo were more refreshed with their several subs we remained strong. Even a change of tactics in desperation movin their man mountain to eclipse the D they couldn't get one past us. It was a cracking first match and we have have definately got off to a good start.
