Report: Let me paint you a picture!

Too few to call a team but nonetheless we persevered. This wasn't just any hockey game - this was ultra total hockey! Highlights include the Pube being taken down by a girl the same size as him (ed. ahem, smaller)! Nice! Perhaps seeking a bit of revenge for the girls he's 'accidentally' collided with in only two seasons!

With end-to-end hockey some saw fit to lie down (Doug) due to the enormity of the task that lied before them having to be resuscitated by a hockey ball or wayward stick!

Hissyfit of the day goes to two people: (A) Pube for getting up after the girl took him out saying 'She tried to kill me!!' before rolling on the ground like an Italian player. (B) Doug for losing his stick then losing his mind chasing every girl that had the ball until he dived in front of a shot on goal - luckily missing any part of Doug's tender frame!

One of the best goals of the day was a move that started and ended with the pube! A ball knocked at to the left wing from the centre by Pube, which was followed up by you guessed it Pube. Receiving a first time pass Pube cut back inside  rounding four players before scoring with a reverse stick!

Achievement of the day goes to coming back from an impossible margin 7-3 down to 8-8 before losing 9-8 (next goal wins!).

Player of the day goes to the Ginger One (ed. Rob) who played expertly at pace often surprising himself!

Cameo appearance goes to Tom who scored a debut Cheam goal as if he'd done it his whole life!

Report: The mixed XI got another run out on against a strong Woking side. Well, I say XI, we actually only had IX and grabbed a girl from the oppo to make us up to a round X. A team that included 2 Colts (1 playing only his second ever game) and no goalkeeper. The portents were not good.

Anyway, the match itself was total hockey from start to finish, that's what Tom called it anyway. To the rest of us it looked more like people getting bored with defending and going for a wander up the pitch.

The goals were the usual eclectic mix; an absolute screamer from Charlie W (that had the Woking 'keeper saying "I wasn't expecting that", I'm paraphrasing here because there might be kids looking at this). The usual scuffed shot from Spaghetti after a short corner effort had been saved, and one from Pube which just about got across the line after a valiant attempt by a defender to stop it.

And Woking got 5 goals.
