Match report by Tom Garrod
Cheam Mens 4th XI 5 v 0 Surbiton 8's

Report: As the nights draw darker we see our first match played with flood lights, this was no disadvantage to cheam if not it seemed an asset. The players were a mix of 1's, 2's, 3's and 4's players, with Julio umpiring the first half and Dom umpiring the the second. The team was well organized and we had a very strong central midfield (Ben and Duncan) which was a major benefit. We also had rapid response left and right halves in the first half (Dom (Left)Simon (Right)). In the ten minutes we had a fairly evenly matched game but then bursting onto the pitch came me who tiredly put away a great attack which was an amazing effort from the whole team especially Dominic who assisted with the finish. The rest of the first half was again a fairly evenly matched with a lucky goal from me where it was skillfully deflected/jabbed into the backboard with another amazing run from dom!

The second half we saw Dom umpire and a great effort from Julio in the first half (well done Julio nice to see some willingness to umpire from a youth Remember umpiring course/training is on the 9th Nov) some great umpiring during the second half from Dom as well. The second half began and cheam was pilling on the pressure and it wasn't too long before I put another one away (Hatrick) from one of the tightest of angles. So After that Tom was pushed back to center back allowing Simon to blast one to the backboard and another great effort from cheam allowed Omar AKA Shagger to produce a jaw dropping gut busting what could be acclaimed as the best goal witnessed by cheam, where he skillfully reverse stick half volleyed the ball almost ripped through the back netting. The keeper was left in awe. The game was won and a great effort from cheam and a great game for the defence as well (Dan, David, Sharpy, Omar).

Squad:   Dan, Duncan, Sharpy, Ben, David, Omar, Ben, Dom, Simon, Tom, Matt, Richard Lucas:) and of course the undoubted Donkey!
Man of the Match:   Ben
Cheam Scorers:   Shagger, Simon and Tom(3)

15/09/2007 - Away Game

Match report by Andy Holder
Walton & Weybridge Hawks 1 v 1 Cheam Mens 4th XI

Report: The inaugaral match began with a thrilling 1-1 draw pushed back with a team of 9 with a grateful addition from the oppo to make 10.

The first half saw chances from both sides but it remained nil all at half-time much to both team´s surprise.

A key effort from Sparky in goal helped. Daniel Bell put in some crucial tackles aided by Omar and Tris.

Despite a re-think by Cheam the opposition scored but Cheam was not having any of that and picked up the pace to bravely equalise with the help of our guest player "Mark" who set up a goal by dribbling the ball down the left flank to cross to a goal-hungry Julio who clinically finished at the back post. Special mention goes to cameo performer Gary Morley who evened up the sides near the close.

Squad:   GK Sparky Daniel Bell Omar Shibli Tristram Clucas Duncan Edwards Julio Roa Tom Garrod Matt Mapin Andy Holder "Mark" Gary Morley
Man of the Match:   The whole team but key performers included Daniel Bell and Duncan Edwards
Cheam Scorers:   Julio Garay-Roa
