04/11/07 - Home Game

Match report by Katie
Cheam Colts Girls U16 0 v 2 Guildford

Report: Yet again, the score line did not reflect this evenly matched game. The high work effort displayed by Cheam did not falter throughout the match, even though it was one of those horrible sunny days! Unfortunately, despite some good runs from Emily, we were one down at half time. With words of encouragement from Jonesy and Panksta and some wonderfully cut oranges at half time, we continued our high work effort, but were forced by the oppo to play a more defensive game, even though there were some great breaks. The defence was very strong, with some amazing work from Laura, but Guildford manage to score again. At full time, it was 2-0.

Thanks go to our coaches, Jonesy and Panksta, to the umpire, Andrea and to all our supporters. Watch out Horsham!

Squad:   Sohini, Katie , Ruthy, Amy T, Amy W, Loopy, Emily, Lucy, Laura, Annabel, Noor, Saoirse, Amber, Emelia

14/10/2007 - Away Game

Match report by Katie
Purley 5 v 2 Cheam Colts Girls U16

Report: With unusually hot weather for October (where was it in the Summer I ask you?), Cheam arrived at Purley for their first match of the season, raring to go. However, at half time, we found ourselves 4-1 down, with Emily scoring our only goal. With some words of encouragement from our coaches, Panksta and Jonesy, we fared better in the second half, creating even more chances on goal. We managed to scrape back another goal, due to an excellent shot from Emelia. Unfortunately, they also scored again, and even with our persistent runs at their goal, we were unable to convert any. Throughout the whole match, especially the second half, we played with a lot of spirit and effort which the score line did not reflect. The final score was 5-1, we felt we had tried hard and showed a lot of winning potential, especially in the second half.

Thanks to Jonesy, Panksta and our loud supporters who kept cheering for us. Also, thanks to Craigy for umpiring and, of course, to Annabel and Emelia, who had rushed from their Under 14 match to come and play for us. Onwards and upwards.

Squad:   Ellie, Sohini, Alex, Laura, Katie, Soaorise, Amy W, Amy T, Lucy, Ruthy, Emily, Annabel, Emelia
Man of the Match:   Ruthy / Katie
Cheam Scorers:   Emily and Emelia
