Report: The unbeaten run continues and is now five games and revenge gained on the only team to have beaten the girls this year. On a cold afternoon at Tiffin the U14 girls beat Old Kinstonians three nil, a thoroughly deserved victory. Solid at the back, creative in midfield and direct in attack the girls comfortably won a game that they were always in control of. One nil up at half time following a goal from Georgia, it took a half time team talk from Jenny to get them to use the whole width of the pitch, following which it was pretty much one way traffic in the second half. Hannah scored from a cleverly worked short corner, and Megan turned in a shot from close quarters to make it three. Overall a great team effort, everyone playing to a plan, strong tackling, good passing and support, goals and another clean sheet. Well done everyone.
Many thanks to the parents for transport and support and Jenny for coaching. Next up Epsom.

Report: On a cold and windy afternoon the U14 girls kept their unbeaten run on track with an emphatic seven nil victory over Richmond Lions. Having started scoring last match it now seems as if they just can't stop. Neve made the teams day when she volunteered to go in goal and performed splendidly once again (two games two clean sheets). Despite creating many opportunities both down the wings and throgh the middle Cheam only led two nil at half time with goals from Ruth and Amelia O. In the second half Megan on her return to the team following injury, delivered a girl of the game performance with four goals, most of which were the result of the swift and accurate passing out of defence, through midfield and on to the forwards, sweeping moves that encompassed the lenth of the pitch, clearly all that training is paying off. One final goal, a volleyed effort from Hannah. All in all a great team effort and
thorougly deserved. Ellie marshalled the defence well with strong tackling from Rhianna on her debut, great cross field passing from Hannah in midfield, wonderful running from Ruth on the wing and fantastic composure in front of goal from Megan. As ever, thank you to all the parents for transporting the girls to Chiswick and for your vocal support. |

Report: Despite such an early start and a journey getting to Oxted all the girls started really well and got stuck in from the off.
Cheam 1st v Guildford, really tight game with both teams defending really well and some really stong kicks from Ollie in goal ending in a 0-0 draw.
Cheam A v Guildford,Excellent start from Cheam with some good passing between the girls from defence up to attack resulting in 2 early goals scored by Tamar and despite Guildford pulling a goal back the girls deserved the 2-1 win.
Cheam 1st v Oxted Another close game with Amelia coming close to scoring early on, then Cheam forcing a double save from the Oxted goalkeeper unfortunatly Oxted scored from a short corner resulting in a 0-1 loss
Cheam A v Oxted more great passing from the girls with good passes from Alisiya to Tamar who scored well and then Megan to Tamar and another goal. 2-1 win putting the girls top of the group and into the final
Final Cheam A v Oxted, tiredness starting to show with a few misplaced passes in defence allowing Oxted 3 early goals and despite a good effort from the girls to try and pull back a goal (Tamar again scoring but from just outside the semi circle) the final score was 3-0 loss.
A big thank you to Sarah and Quaily for getting up early and giving time on a Sunday morning to coach the girls and thanks to the great support from parents on the sidelines.

Report: The girls finally got their just rewards, after a couple of games where they had been unable to convert possesion and territorial dominance into goals and hence victories, with a 3-1 victory on Sunday. The first goal came from a free flowing passing move which started in their own half and ended with Ruth, stick down on the far post, knocking the ball into the Hawk's goal from and excellent cross from the byline. The Cheam pressure continued and the second goal came shortly afterwards when Hannah's vicious cross come shot from a most acute angle went in off the goalies pads.
Shortly after half time Cheam conceded a rather soft goal in what was the Hawk's only venture into the Cheam D. This only seemed the spur the team on more, following good saves from a couple of cracking shots, the pressure finally told and a third goal was added by Ruth.
Thanks to the umpires Sparky and Jenny (for coaching too), Steve for the after match refreshments and the parents for their support.

Report: On a gloriously sunny day the U14 girls made the trek to Battersea Park where only an excellent display from the Spencer goalkeeeper and the post denied them the victory that their performance thoroughly deserved. Cheam completely controlled the game, with Spencers limited forays into the Cheam half rapidly snubbed out by the defence and on the odd occssion that Spencer did muster a shot on goal it was confidently dealt with Neve who had bravely volunteered to fill the gap between the posts. Otherwise it was pretty much one way traffic, with the Cheam midfield running the game and creating many chances which unfortunately the forwards, despite their best efforts were unable to convert. A couple of great strikes from Hannah were well saved by their goalie and when Amelia did manage to beat the goalkeeper the post interevened to save Spencer. A very frustrating match. The girls hockey is visibly improving game by game and will surely bring the results that their increasing dominance of matches deserves.
Thank you to the parents for making the journey to Battersea (never an easy one on a Sunday lunchtime) and for their vocal support and to Joe who gave up his Sunday lunchtime to coach the girls.

Report: The girls have really begun to gel and played some great hockey to beat a stubborn Epsom side on Sunday. Epsom's defence proved very solid in the face of the many shots created by Cheam's passing interplay which regularly opened up the Epsom defence. Having dominated posession and territory for most of the first half Cheam were very unlucky to trail one nil at half time when Epsom scored from a well worked short corner with the last hit of the half.
Undaunted the girls applied even more pressure in the second half and managed to get the equaliser that their hockey deserved when Hannah's shot across goal found the bottom corner. From this point the pressure only increased further as Cheam pressed for the winning goal and to the cheers of the watching parents victory was secured when Amelia ended a strog run from her own half by driving the ball into the Epsom net. Solid in defence, creative and strong in midfield and direct up front this really was a great team effort. Thank you to Jenny for coaching and the parents for their vocal support.

Report: Third game of the season, and a very well played match.
The game all started with a lot of running, tackling and overall excellent play, however Epsom were able to slip in a goal mid first half. However this enabled Cheam to start fighting for the ball, and that is exactly what we did. We used space well to channel down the wings and used our vocals to encourage the team. Late first half we began to really start attacking and through great positioning and teamwork we got into the oppositions D and really started to attack and created some great goal opportunities.
After the tense team talk at half time Cheam were back to start fighting again and through excellent teamwork from Hannah and Clare we managed to get a cross into the oppositions D which was finished off by Xenia and resulted in 1-1. Cheam then defended well to finish on a draw.
Well played to all of the team today, with some
great defending from Lily and fantastic keeping from Grace. Thank you to everyone who came and supported, it really encouraged the team; we could all hear you shouting! Thank you also to Coach Ramsay we really appreciate how you have encouraged and improved us as a team! Also I did promise that I would mention Natalie, so yes Natalie thank you for coming and please get better soon!
Overall a great game and next time I am aiming to NOT to fall over- well lets see about that……

Report: All the girls seemed to really enjoy the tournament this afternoon and they all got on really well together.
Game 1 Cheam 0 Richmond 6 we started off really slowly and had some dodgy ref decisions given against us by the Richmond ref, our defense seemed a little lost and out of place and if it wasn't for many good saves by Jordan it would of been a bigger defeat.
Game 2 Cheam 3 Richmond B 0 after a quick team talk by Sarah and Qually the girls got going and scored almost from the start with a goal from Samantha set up by Laura, all the girls played really well and attacked in numbers which led to Laura scoring the next 2 goals.
Game 3 Cheam 0 Richmond C 1 after a 20 min break and a quick goalkeeper change Olivia took over from Jordan, a really close game and we were unlucky to concede a goal early on and despite numerous attempts we couldn't get a goal back, all the girls played really well and a draw would of been a fairer result.
Cheam player of the tournament voted by the supporters was Molly.

Report: Goals were always going to be at a premium at the U14's match against Old Kingstonians, as for many of the girls on both sides this was their first 11 a-side game. In the event Cheam had the majority of play and also the larger number of scoring chances but unfortunately, failed to convert any. Then midway through the second half Old Kingstonians conjured up a succesful strike on goal almost from nowhere. Despite the loss the girls played some good flowing hockey and got in plenty of strong tackles which all bodes well for the forthcoming mtaches.

Report: A great second match for the season! It was a bright and sunny day but despite the heat we kept working hard - and to great results. The first half saw two brilliant Cheam goals, the first by Natalie and the second by Clare.
After some talk of tactics during half time, the second half of the match saw some great opportunities for goals, but unfortunately we were unable to make the chances. Defence and marking were excellent and prevented Oxted goals, and Lily was superb in goal. Congratulations everyone.
With the combined effort of all players, who is Girl of the Game? The whole team, of course :)

Reigate Colts u16s |

Report: A hard fought game played in the searing heat of a late September afternoon. The first fixture for the new U16s squad ably assisted by Hannah and Georgia playing up from the U14s to cover for the members of the squad who were either unavailable or need to be rested a little due to the Surrey JDC Game play sessions.
Excellent defending from Cheam in the first half kept the scorecard clean. Good attacking moves down the right hand side lead to a couple of exciting forays in to the Reigate D but we were unable to make the most of the chances.
The 2nd half started, after an inspiring team talk, and the tempo was cranked up. Reigate managed to breakthrough for an early goal. Cheam responded well with increased vigour and applied intense pressure. Xenia, Grace and Katie all took turns as targets in the Reigate D and the pressure started to pay dividends. Excellent work and running from Natalie down the right hand side, linking up with Clare and Hannah resulted in numerous crosses across the face of the goal, leaving the crowd screaming with excitement and forcing some good saves from the Reigate keeper but we just couldn’t manage to connect with a Cheam stick.
Sadly the score stayed the same, 1-0 to Reigate, although a draw would have been a fairer result.
Well done to all who played as the team beds down the results will begin to flow. And well done to our two new joiners playing their first games for Cheam, Chloe in defence and Ellie in goal. Girl of he Game Nominated by the Coaches was Natalie
