18/11/07 - Home Game

Match report by Craig Grant
Cheam Colts Boys U16 1 v 0 Purley U16 and Epsom U16

Report: Despite Cheam boy's exit from the league this year, the U16's romped to victory in this 7-a-side tournament. The Cheam team looked promising, and after a stern warm up, co-ordinated by coach Steph, they were ready to go. Cheam quickly set about in destroying Epsom in the first match, winning 7 - 0 with some great goals from Julio, Matt and Marcus. However, a tougher test was presented to us in the next game against Purley. Soon Cheam switched on, scoring two lovely flowing goals in quick succession. With the tournament at it's ahlf way stage, Cheam were sitting pretty. Again Cheam thumped Epsom 4 - 0, meaning only a draw in the final game would mean victory. We started slowly, but began to create chances. But suddenly, on the break came Purley, and a suprise goal seemed on the cards. However, the keeper stepped up heroically and made an awsome save, to keep it at 0 - 0, and more importantly win! the tournament. Well done to the boys, a thoroughly deserved victory which was down to the great passing hockey we played, and probably not my keeping.

Squad:   Craig (Goalie), Matt Laidman, Joe, Marcus, Duncan, George, Lawrence and Julio.
Man of the Match:   A great team effort, with some excellent displays from both Lawrence and Julio.
Cheam Scorers:   Everybody, apart from the keeper.
