Report: Lady luck came back from last weeks shopping trip thank goodness!! We started off a little too relaxed, hence conceding the two goals early on after scoring our first one but hey. Having sneakily lured them into a false sense of victory, the adrenalin kicked in towards the back end of the first half and from then on they just kept going in. We are pretty sure they had cling film over their goal in the first half from the amount Hat-trick misssed (either that or she really must go to spec savers). A bit of leg pulling at the break got Ailsa and Andrea competing with each other - don't quite know who made the rule stating that your name had to start with a 'A' before you were allowed to score?
Next week is our last match of the season so come on gals - we have to make sure we finish on a high one!

Report: Shame we didn't have a few fly swats but such is life. Outplayed by much faster and fitter players who should really have been playing our twos. the team, as usual, gave it 110% but lady luck was most definitely out shopping this week and the ball was not willing to go into their net despite a few chances. we are not disheartened or downtrodden as the rest of the season has been pretty darned good to us. We can't wait for the challenge of next season - bring it on!

Report: Rocket fuel must have been in the diets this week! The ball was definitely on fire with as many shots on goal as went in. Andrea having lost her jinx and most assuredly back on form with her four (she is soooo desperate for the top goal scorer award) and close competition from Ailsa. some cracking shots from the short corners with a couple of satisfying thuds on the back board. Sarah T and myself icing the cake so to speak. The team just want to know what the skipper is going to buy us all for being such a great team??? (HINT)

Report: Fantastic fours were still a bit stunned by the previous weeks performance and stripped of a number of our players (we forgive you ladies 3s). A little on the lackadaisical side to start but a good talking to by the skipper who then proceeded to show how tough she is by headbutting the ball at the start of the second half knocked the team into shape. In both halves there were endless shots on goal with that ever annoying kerchang as the ball hits the post resounding across the pitch - shame it was the football posts and not the hockey posts (only kidding ladies). The ball stayed out of our half for much of the game with Blod getting one or two touches just to keep her involved of course! We were convinced the oppo had cling film across the goal mouth until, finally, just seconds before the final whistle, Andrea managed to put one into the goal. And that with just 10 players in the second half. mmm - wonder which of the ladies teams will hav!
e the top notch at the end of the season???

Report: The first half was one we'd rather forget, so let's do just that. At half time, 3 goals down and the memory of the 5-2 hammering on our previous encounter against the same opposition fresh in the mind, the skipper gave a rousing Winston Churchill-like speech and from that moment on, we were a team possessed! The game continued with a level of commitment and concentration that has perhaps deserted the team on previous occasions (despite our good results). Aggression and desire was evident all round, discipline, combined with accurate passing, running off the ball and strength while in possession saw the revival of a team that had looked comfortably beaten by half time. The fight back was led admirably by Pam and Ailsa who used their experience to remain calm on the ball and ensure that the goal scoring opportunities were not wasted. With the game poised at 2-3 with only a few minutes left, Pam slotted home our third in perhaps slightly c!
ontroversial circumstances by her own admission, but the goal was awarded and the celebrations erupted! By the final whistle some very Sweaty Betty's dragged their tired legs to the club house to celebrate the result - bearing in mind this is a team placed in the top 3, 2 divisions above our Ladies IV's this was definitely a result worthy of raising a glass or two to! For the first time, in my life certainly, I can honestly say that a draw felt as good as a win! Thank you to our lone supporter Rachel, who was no doubt adequately rewarded with a great game for her show of support!

Report: And once more the fab fours bounce back into mode! A cracking shot from Ailsa in the first half saw us take the lead. The second half opened with us in a strong frame of mind and determined to stay in front. Mid Surrey put on a good show and despite a gallant effort from Ailsa to stop them scoring by lying in the goal mouth they managed to sneak one in. However, we were not going to settle for that and another goal from Ailsa and one cheeky chip over the goalie from Anna soon put a stop to any idea of losing:D.
Some very good saves from Sara and encouragement from the skipper steeled our nerves to hold the lead and finish with a good victory.
Roll on next week!!!

Report: Well, what can one say about that scoreline. Goal scoring competition methinks with quite a few getting in on the act this week. A slightly ragged start to the first half with the first goal from Dawn. Ending the first half at 1-0 you could say the performance was a tad lack lustre (could the friday night celebrations have anything to do with this we wonder?). However, come the second half we definitely woke up and the goals started to pour in and our defence were able to finally put their feet up again....Andrea popped in two, Pam another two, Tanya one, Dawn a second and yours truly getting a sneaky one too. finishing at a very cosy 8-0 and reflecting some much more cohesive play throughout the second half.
we must go out more on a Friday night obviously.....

Report: Once more the fab fours strike! A fantastic bit of organising re: formation from our vice skipper (aka now known as Hat Trick Hearn) which pushed us up to fill the void we have so often left in the midfield. A very cheeky goal from Sarah early in the first half (she casually 'jog/walked' it it to the goal via the goalie) followed by Andrea and Pam who were also on good form. Feeling pretty good come half time Andrea had to go back out to compete with Pam and they netted another three between them. Not forgetting Sue who also got the goal hunger syndrome. Some brilliant runs and build ups to the goals which just goes to show that the training sessions do work or could it be that we are just a fab team! Lots of strong passing and triangular formations. So now that have proved that we can do it girls, we have no excuses to lose again just as long as we maintain this formation.

Report: What a soggy one! We started with 11 (just) but didn't really get settled in as quickly as usual and Richmond scored an early first goal. Andrea finished off a fab run by midfield and forwards to equalize shortly after but from then on it seemed to go Peter Tong. (We shouldn't mention the oppos umpire who should have gone to specsavers!). At half time we were 3-1 down and the whole thing was begining to resemble water polo rather than hockey. A saturated second half started and finished quickly once the decision was taken to abandon ship before we all drowned. Dignity intact we waded back for an early tea. Not the best way to start the New Year but we are ready once more to take on all boarders - sorry, it's hockey not water polo, I keep forgetting......

Report: Not the most inspiring of matches! The oppo arrived with just over half a team and promptly borrowed two of our players leaving both sides without goal keepers which is the only reason they got any in at all...! Plus they had Quayley doing just a tad too much for our liking (grrr). But, nonetheless, spirits were only dampened by a sprinkle and we got on with it. Jules popping her farewell goal into the back of the net, Andrea making "damned" sure she was not going to be left out by getting a neat touch on just to be sure it went in and Pam continuing to go for gold with yet another two goals (one of which was decidedly cheeky but we won't go into that). The oppo should have been awarded just three as one was kicked on to the scorers stick but hey Steamer could only blow what she could see as she was doing the whole pitch single handed - yup they even turned up without an umpire... Next week will be better and the guantlet is down on the ground as we face up to Maori - round three!!! And maybe we can keep our feet away from the ball this week girls (hmmm).

Report: The fantastic fours started a little lack lustre or was it just the range of hangovers? mmm... this resulted in the oppo sneaking one in during the first half. But were we down at heart - not likely and after the half time break, a quick infusion of lucozade and sheer determination we equalised and then stuffed them with two strong goals from Pam. Pam is definitely trying to get the highest scorer of the season award closely followed by Andrea. All in all the forward line was awesome in the second half with lots or near misses and the oppo were lucky not to be 6 down again by the end. A superb performance from Ellie with some real classy moves - no 3's you can't take her yet!!
Interesting comment from them at half time which brought about a real revenge in the second half - moral of the story to the oppo - don't upset us because we don't just get even , we win.....
Thanks to Ailsa for umpiring this week

Report: A touch of the familiar as those wiley ol' Vamps burst the 4's winning bubble yet again. A much better effort from the team against a difficult opposition saw halftime approach with the scores still even (although it must be said that we were assisted by some 1st & 2nd team mojo in the form of Steph Williams, Jonesy & Grimsey). Even so, the va-va-voom of the aforementioned wasn't enough (probably because they ARE getting on a bit AND they had all just played a full game) as the opposition put away a messy goal about 10 minutes from time. We created little in the way of real opportunities and our performance lacked that sparkle that we have become accustomed to. There were however some neat individual performances with Gerry, Katie P and Jules working as hard as ever. Our only real opportunity came in one of the last plays of the game but despite some baying from the sidelines that the ball appeared to cross the line it was later discover!
ed that our eagle eyed umpire Steamer had deemed the ball to hit a Cheam foot first (well, I never!). Nevermind though girls, we'll show those Vamps a trick or two next season, although perhaps this time we can draft in the help of the Mens 1's & 2's!

Report: And to think there were some jittery nerves in the 4's camp ahead of our first official "league" game...what a way to start! If truth be told it did take a good 15 minutes to get that 4's Rolls Royce engine purring with a good few opportunities being squandered in the opening minutes of the game, but once Pam L got her sights properly locked on the target the opposition didn't stand a chance. Looks like you've got some catching up to do with yer mum Matt! A solid display by our hard working midfield ensured some lovely through balls for the forwards to latch onto - and latch onto them we sure did! By half-time any sight of pre-game nerves had long since vanished and we played the second half the only way we know how - by having a ball! (no pun intended!) Well done team - start as you mean to go on. Keep winning & keep smiling :)

Report: And once more the Fantastic Fab Fours strike terror into the hearts of the opposition. A stunning performance by the team with all the tactics instilled by our coach used on the pitch - lots of calling, passing and backing up - the whole team giving 110% again. At 1-0 up the oppo dared to score one goal which just made us all the more determined to get even and to win! Classy goals from Andrea, Pam and Caroline with goal grabbing in the eXtreme from Emily who wellied in four of them! we won't mention Andrea's continued relationship with astro and her determination to remove the skin from her knees by the end of the season......only problem- she didn't do it in their D for a penalty but hey...

Report: And once more the fantastic fours strike terror into the hearts of the opposition with a goal scored within the first five minutes or so of the first half followed up with a penalty flick soon after. A great team spirit and determination, classic hockey moves played with real style lead to the rapid decline of any resistance (which really was quite futile as they say). Jules slammed home two goals although she will say one was "just a stolen touch", Andrea not to be missed out who now seems to have adopted the ' I must score every week' mode, Anna determined to be part of score line up with her goal and one very 'cool as a cucumber' Debbie putting the penalty into the back of the net. Both goals coming from Andrea who is doing her best to buy the team a jug! The second goal came from a good call from Jules who then set it up for Andrea to put it into the back of the net. However, we must not ignore the fact that we we playing against a very skilled team who play together a lot. Despite a valiant effort from the whole team we just could not create sufficient chances in the oppos D and managed to have rather a lot of short corners awarded against us. Our victory was secured by the star guest appearance of Pam (I'm not fit to play this match)who slammed a couple in from short corners and one cheeky shot off the line to make her top scorer of the match. Report: What a cracker!!! Game started a tad slow on our part but boy did we sharpen up our act quickly. Epsom scored their one and only of the match
which just made us get stuck in with a cheeky goal from Emily in the
first half. A quick G&T at half time and we went back out
fighting...Tanya slipped in a real banana shot which sent the goalie the
wrong way (Beckham eat your heart out). The final two goals coming from
Emily and Chezza to give us a very satisfying win of 4-1. A great team
spirit exhibited by all! Bring on the season - the Fantastic Fours are
