Match report by Tiff Brown |
Report: After having been quite slack on the old match reports, had to make sure we had a final one for the end of the season. Although we didn't end the season with a win it was a real fight to keep it at a draw. And I know everyone was well pleased with result. Tulse Hill/Dulwich played an excellent match and we were pushed to keep them from scoring but Cheam played with that fighting spirit we're renound for and dominated play in the 2nd half. The game was played in great spirit from both sides are it was a very enjoyable way to end the season. Many thanks to players from the 4's who helped us out. Also many thanks to our Captain Anna, VIce Quayley, manager and No.1 supporter Catriona and Coach Mandy, for the entire season's efforts. Anna and Mandy will be sorely missed next season.

Report: After picking our way through the muddy bank of the Thames in an attempt to locate our pitch, the Ladies 3s had a tough game against BHE6. We were feeling confident at the outset, knowing that we had beaten this team before. The first half was a little slow to get going, with quite a few players in positions they weren't used to and BHE playing a very physical game. After some choice words from Spuggy at half time, we came out hungry for goals. The standard of play definitely lifted, and most of the play was in the BHE half. Unfortunately, in the last few minutes, BHE scored a couple of quick goals, to give a scoreline that doesn't really reflect the whole game. Notable Cheam performances came from Annys (how DID you get back to save that goal - I'm still trying to work it out?!), and Katie (brilliant marking of the most lively player we've encountered in any of our oppo!). With next week off, let's stay fired up for our next match against Richmond on 24th Feb... Bring it on!

Report: It was a frustrating draw for the ladies 3's this week. With a fairly new group of players we did a good job of playing together as a team. Many thanks to players from the 4's (Pam, Andrea and Jerry) who played up for us this week. It was a tough match as always against Shirley, very physical and hard fought. From the back Annys had some great saves to keep us at 1-1. Our new addition to the defence Katie held her own and marked well. As always Mary, Tiff, Steph and Qualey were strong and reliable in defence. Julia was back from illness this week and showed off her speed through the centre. Anna, Jerry and Hannah all had effective games as our wing halves. Always looking dangerous we had Sue, Pam and Andrea up front. We weren't quite able to utilise all our scoring opportunities and unfortunately conceeded a goal but it was a good game and lots of fun had by all. And I feel I must mention (or rather she will kill me) we did miss Sinead and Becca. Good luck next week, let's get back that winning feeling.

Report: Two losses, two draws and now finally a WIN. It has been a while but oh it feels good! The ladies enjoyed that winning feeling last Saturday. Last time we played Reigate we were beaten 7-1 (ring in's and all). We were spectacular in the first half, putting together some great passages of play to score our opening goal and dominate play. We continued our great form in the 2nd half scoring our next goal in the first few minutes. Liz Tebbs was on fire in front of goal, two from two. Some focus was lost towards the end of the game and a goal was conceeded. We scrambled in defence to keep them out for a well deserved victory. Congratulations to everyone. A great team effort.

Report: To sum up this weeks game "the score does not reflect the game". The ladies 3's were highly competitive in the first half of the game and a good part of the 2nd half too. Some unfortunate passages of play led to the opposition scoring (legal and illegal goals) and we then struggled to find focus and belief in ourselves to recover. Our team was missing several regular players and we look forward to their return next week. As Mandy said at half time there were plenty of things to be impressed with. We mustn't become despondant. There's only eight games left this season. Let's show the League what we're made of. Go Cheam!

Report: Ladies 3's played a hard fought draw this weekend. We had many opportunities to score in the first half but it took until the second half for it to all come together. A last minute cracking shot at goal by Steph off a penalty corner gave us the draw. Girl of the game Julia played a great game although she was rather under the weather (a big one the night before) and unfortunately this was displayed colourfully off the field. Although not a win it was a well spirited game and a nice way to finish the year. Have a lovely christmas break everyone and lets get fired up for the New Year.

Report: Oh dear! Once again another disappointing loss from this friendly game against a newly formed Reading team. It was a great start for Cheam as Sue showed her 'goal scoring skills', putting us one up in the first quarter. There weren't many decisions that came our way but with a penalty awarded to Cheam, things started to look up! The second goal-not from the penalty- came just before half-time from Sinead, which meant at half-time the scoreline stood at 2-1 to Cheam. The second half saw Reading score 2 more 'flukey' goals, Cheam try some different players in new positions and some good, strong passing from the Cheam side- it's just so unfortunate that good passing and team spirit don't win hockey games, because if it did we certainly would be at the top of the league! Well done to everyone who played and let's try and finish for the Christmas break with a great, big win this coming Saturday!

Report: The Ladies 3's celebrated another win this weekend. We were the definition of "team". Every player in the squad had a great game. We dominated play and perhaps could have converted more corners but a win is a win. There were some great runs up front from Sue, Karin, Lucy and Chloe. Solid performances in the middle from Sinead and Quayley. And great covering defence from Mary, Sarah, Hannah and Tiff. As always Annys was dependable in goals. So let's take it home for the rest of the year and keep on this winning note. Go Ladies 3's! GO CHEAM!

Report: It was a disappointing loss this week for the Ladies 3's. A cold afternoon start made motivation difficult. We started a little slowly and allowed a goal in early. The second half was a different story. As only Cheam can, we fought back and dominated play but just couldn't put away a goal. As a team I think I can say for most of us that these close loses are devestating and we can all see our potential and find our results so frustrating. One day very soon the luck will fall our way and the goals win go in. Keep fighting Ladies 3's. Thanks to pankster for playing in goals.

Report: The Ladies's 3's knew they would be faced with a difficult task playing against the current league leaders, Walton & Weybridge. And a difficult task it was. Our team was missing several regular players including Sinead, Julia, Frankie, Sue and Tiffany. Although the first half of the game left us despondant and 5-0 down, the whole team dug deep and started again in the second half. There were some good passages of play and everyone showed true determination in not giving up. Although we do have things to work at training this week I have no doubt that as always the ladies 3's will attack their challenage with vigour and complete it with success. Many thanks to Stef, Deb, Ailsa for playing for us this week. Heads up ladies, remember the team they played last week lost 16-0. Next week is a new start.

Report: Unfortunately it was not a return to winning for the ladies 3's this weekend. We played a tough match against quite a physical team. The whole team played very well and we held the opposition to 0-0 until the 2nd half. Our defenders were superb under constant pressure with many saves off the line and great work by our goalie and girl of the match Annys. Although a disappointing result we still played well as a team with some regular players missing. Many thanks to Cheryl and Steph for playing this weekend. We look froward to the return of Becca, Mary,Sinead and Anna. Heads up ladies 3's the goals will come. (Tiffany did visit accident & emergency to have her hand x rayed and it's not broken).

Report: The Ladies 3s had a draw in our friendly against Wanderers this week. It was a hard fought game that Cheam was unlucky not to win. Our goal came following a magnificent individual effort from Ally, and Sue came very close to taking us 2-0 up soon after. Girl of the game, Becca, was in her element at the back of the diamond, and she confidently controlled her part of the pitch. Many thanks to Craigy, Pankster and Ally from the 1s and Kat from the 2s who filled in for us, and to our supporters on the sidelines. Onwards and upwards, girls – lets get back to our winning form next week!!

Report: The Ladies 3's had another great win this week. Once again the entire team played well and we are looking better every week. But it is getting harder to pick a woman of the match. Our short passing and ball speed paid off this week and is coming more naturally into our style of game. Two good luck charms have identified over the last two weeks and we hope they'll continue. Katrina has been wearing a tiara and Anna has arranged a strong pre game cheer the scare the opposition. We were glad to have our regular goalkeeper Annys back this week who has returned after a neck injury. Thanks to many of the 1's who have watched & helped with our games over the last two weeks. No doubt the ladies 3's will keep up the good work. We all love that winning feeling!

Report: Yes we've finally had a win. Our first for the year. The ladies 3's played a great game this week. We had new additions to the squad Sue, Julia and Andrea in goals. The team meshed together well despite some of us only meeting for the first time that day. Sinead had a great game in midfield and was a goal scoring machine (just ask her). Our defence of Grace, Hannah, Mary and Tiffany held it together at the back and kept them out. Thanks to Grace playing down from the 2's at late notice. Andrea,a field player from the 4's played a great game in goals and we were very greatful for her presense. Thanks Andrea. No doubt we'll see Annys back next week returning from injury. Becca had a great game at the back of the diamond despite being a little nervous in this position. The rest of our midfield Anna and Julia were solid in defence, distributing the ball and scoring the occasional GOAL! Up front Sue, Chloe and Lucy showed off their skills and speed!
. We all look to be benefiting from training and may the goals continue to flow. Let's do it again next week. Great Performance everyone.

Report: Ladies 3's had a disappointing loss this week. We were beaten by a team that seemed to have a few players coming down from higher grades. Despite the score our goal keeper Annys had a great game and saved us from double figures. Once again Tiffany spent some time on the ground much to Chanaid's amusement and Hannah copped a beauty in the knee and kept playing. We're a tough group and I'm sure we'll bounce back next week. AND we scored our first goal. Congrats Sarah! It's only the beginning girls.

Report: Ladies 3's played a hard fought 0-0 draw this weekend. It was a tough physical game and we were missing some key players. The girls lifted themselves to evenly match it to Windsor and cope with the heat too. Well done girls, this was a great second game and it will lead us into the league matches full of confidence and enthusiasm. Look out all other teams in our grade, Cheam is coming!
