Red and yellow and blue and Cheam, mixed up and grey, whites and green…….

Every colour in the sporting spectrum gathered at Nonsuch pitch on Saturday 16th April for the first Colts/Seniors mixed tournament.

The afternoon was superbly organised by Bev Nicholson and Sarah Jones who, given her current limp and the fact that she was ringing a bell to signal the start and end of the matches, looked vaguely familiar. Now who was it? Ah yes, Quasimodo!

Eight teams, comprised of senior and junior members, divided into 2 pools and played a round robin tournament culminating, 2½ hours later, in the Mixed team winning the Grand Final and the Cheam team winning the Plate competition.

It was difficult to distinguish between the age groups given the standard of the youngsters who more than looked comfortable in senior hockey company.

After the hockey finished, the teams decamped to the Club where competition resumed with crazy games organised and umpired wonderfully by Richard and Ads.

So, no rainbows but a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon which cemented the relationship and continuity between the junior and senior sections of the Club. Roll on the next one, Quasi…….!

Many thanks to David Griffiths (Megs Dad) for taking the pictures
